We’re going to take you through the top 5 ways to help avoid or improve back/neck pain.

1. Invest in a high quality lash bed/recliner.

Having a lash bed/recliner that you can adjust the height on means you can find the correct height to work at to avoid bending over your clients. When you’re stuck working at an uncomfortable height you’re adding unnecessary strain to your spine all day while lashing, which if you don’t sort out can actually lead to some nasty back pain or even damage.

2. Get yourself a good stool/chair

This is possibly the most important step to curing and preventing back pain as a lash artist. Adjustable saddle stools are known to be the best option for lash artists to prevent back pain while lashing. Being able to adjust the stool height to the right place for you is very important so you’re not bending your back or leaning over your clients all day.

3. Book yourself in for a back massage or get a back massager/massage chair

We’ve heard many lash artists recommending to go to a masseuse or chiropractor. They explain how the visits really helped them deal with their back pain. If you haven’t yet tried this, we definitely recommend giving it a go.

4. Stretch!

Try to throw in a few stretches within the short breaks you allow yourself between clients. Rolling your shoulders and stretching out your neck/back frequently can really help alleviate some pain.

5. Working out

Yes, you heard us right… Working out and strengthening your back muscles massively helps with pain/aching! We know this one can be difficult for some lash artists, finding time to balance work and rest is hard enough, but to also squeeze in an hour’s exercise can sometimes just seem impossible. Trust us though, you may think you’re too tired to work out but the relief and endorphins released by exercise will be totally worth it.
